History


HELP Association, Inc. was founded in North Beach, MD in 1972 by fourteen individuals who wanted to help the elderly of Calvert County and other neighbors who needed a hand. Their initial focus was on providing direct assistance to individuals: donating household goods to families who had lost their home to a fire, taking gifts to the hospital, giving gifts and food to needy families at Christmas, cooking meals and offering rides to people who lacked transportation. Then, as today, HELP financed its giving by running a thrift shop.
